Recently at my school, a rule has been enforced. That rule states that we cannot have food in class anymore. This issue has just surfaced because of an allergy related incident. Apparently, this has always been a rule but it is just now being noticed. We got this news a couple weeks ago and many of my fellow classmates were in shock. For some, it was like the world was collapsing around them.
This caused somewhat of an uproar in school. People have been playing the blame game. For example, someone was getting bullied because the bully thought that it was their fault. This caused even more problems, kids were getting in trouble which pretty much turned this whole situation into a vicious cycle. Even some of the teachers are upset. They are used to being able to hand out candy and treats as rewards, as motivation for the students. Now, however, they can't causing some not to try as hard. I think that this issue could be resolved a number of ways including getting special permission from the administration and carefully checking and reading labels. I believe that over time kids will just slowly start to bring food back into class, and will most likely have excuses ready when they do.
